After you download Badoo for iPhone and complete your membership registration (you can sign up by creating an account or logging in using your Facebook account), you can begin meeting friends and romantic partners.

Badoo for iPhone Menu Explored

To open the Badoo menu, tap the menu button in the upper left corner of the app screen.

  • Encounters: This Hot-or-Not-like feature allows you to rate potential matches with the tap of a button. A fast and easy way to browse the profiles of members without going through the search function.
  • People Nearby: This feature shows you potential matches that are ranked by their proximity to you.
  • Messages: Pretty clear cut, this feature is your inbox where incoming chat messages are stored.
  • Favorites: When you favorite someone on their profile, their name and picture are added here for easy reference. Use favorites sparingly to separate those you are already chatting with for best results.
  • Liked You: This option will take you to a list of Badoo members who liked you through the Encounters feature of the app. This is a paid feature, so you won't be able to see anyone until you either pay or activate a trial by inviting your friends to the app.
  • Visitors: Shows you who has been checking out your profile.

The Badoo for iPhone profile is the control center for your entire account. View your profile by tapping the menu button in the upper left corner of the app screen and then tapping your name and picture at the top of the menu.

In addition to creating a (hopefully) great first impression for others here, complete with pictures and information, you also can perform a variety of functions important to your use of this iPhone app.

Functions of the Badoo Profile on iPhone

Here is a general list of the things you can control directly from your profile and where:

  1. Add Photos or Videos: Here you can add more photos to your profile, as well as videos. Sources include the photo library of your iPhone, as well as Facebook and Instagram. You can also take a new photo or video to upload with your phone.
  2. Buy Super Powers: Under "Super Powers" you can purchase a package to unlock premium features to help you meet people.
  3. Monitor Credit Balances: Tap "Credits" to view your current balance and refill your credit account for purchasing premium features.
  4. Sign Out. Under the "Account" menu, you can log off Badoo for iPhone completely, preventing delivery of notifications and messages until you log in again.

Completing Your Badoo for iPhone Profile

A complete profile will always yield a better experience on this and other chat or social networking services, so take the time to fill out each of these sections to increase new friend and dating opportunities.

  • Work & Education: Tap "Add" to the right to add information on your education and work. This information is pulled from Facebook, so to add it you'll have to connect to Facebook if you haven't done so already.
  • Interests: Tap "Add Interests" to view the wide range of interests you can select. Categories include Music, Movies & TV Shows, Travel, Sports and more.
  • About Me: This section of details is the heart of your personal profile information. Tap "Edit" to the right to fill in the following details:
    • Why you're on Badoo
    • Relationship status
    • Sexuality
    • Appearance
    • Living situation
    • Kids
    • Smoking preferences
    • Drinking preferences
  • Languages Spoken: Add languages you know, along with your level of knowledge for each.

Profile Verification

To verify your profile, you will need to take a photo of yourself performing a gesture displayed, such as holding up an OK sign with your hand. The photo you take is not used in your profile and is only for verification purposes.

Your verification photo will need to be clear and bright enough to see your face clearly.

A second verification process will need to be performed to complete verification. In addition to the photo, you can choose one of the following options for verification:

  • Phone number
  • Facebook
  • Google+
  • Instagram
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn
  • Badoo Super Powers (paid process)

Private Photos and Videos

You can upload private photos and videos that you can share with select users on Badoo by tapping "Private photos and videos" at the bottom of the profile screen.

At the bottom of the screen, you can see who has access to your private photos and videos by tapping "Who has access?"

How to Play, Use Encounters

To begin meeting new people right away, tap Encounters in the menu:

  1. Browse through the first Encounter, flipping from left to right to view additional photos (if they exist), and scroll down to see the user's name, age, location, who they are looking for and the last time they were on.
  2. Make a decision. Do you want to meet them? Tap the heart button for a yes, or the "X" button for no. There is also a "crush" option available by tapping the double heart button on the left side of the picture. This will immediately notify the person, who can then also check you out.
